Hello Everybody,

My Exmark Lazer series has been running perfectly for the last 2 years – but for the last month, it refuses to turn on when the machine is hot. I have no trouble starting it when the unit is cold. It’s got a Kohler engine – can someone help me out?

Hey Kenneth,

Make sure that your oil has been changed regularly and is filled to the designated point. If you’ve done that, inspect the air filtration system. It would be a good idea to take off the blower housing of the engine and clean out everything – do not use water – with pressurized air and a nylon brush. Accumulation of debris can sometimes interfere with the engine’s respiration, as can a dirty air filter. If this doesn’t solve the problem, you might want to inspect the ignition coils and replace them if required as they can falter under a load. The coil contains a bit of circuitry that doesn’t work when the temperature is too high.
