Clutch doesn’t engage on Exmark Lazer Series

Hello Folks,

I’ve had my Exmark Lazer Z for nearly a year now and after storing it at the end of the last mowing season, the clutch won’t engage anymore. I’ve checked the coil, cleaned out and lubricated all moving parts but it’s not made any difference. Is there somebody who faced this issue previously?

Hey Daymond,

I faced the same issue with my Lazer mower a few months ago and although my problem was caused by a damaged coil, there could be a couple of other reasons for this. Check your fuses first – the coil resistance, charging system and the wiring. If everything is in order, your electrical system may not be getting enough current. Inspect your clutch’s lead wire and replace it if required. Clean the connector’s contact points too. Finally, check the rotor airgap – if the gap is too large, that could be causing the clutch to fail.
